Sporting Activities
We aim to give every child the opportunity to enjoy sport (including competitive team games) as a means of recreation and maintaining fitness. There are opportunities to compete at various levels.
· Within school. In games lessons, small-sided versions of hockey, football and netball and other sports are played. Rounders and versions of cricket and tennis are played in the summer. All children compete in our annual Sports Day. We are sometimes able to offer netball, rounders, tennis or cricket after school clubs, at different times of year.
· At Partnership events. A large majority of Key Stage 2 children take part in the Partnership athletics and cross-country events. All Year 6 children have the opportunity to take part in Partnership sports. Friendly matches against neighbouring schools give children of a wide range of abilities the chance to represent the school.
· At District Level. Competition at District level is much fiercer and we have enjoyed a number of sporting successes for the school over the last few years. Children successful at the Warriner Partnership athletics qualify for the District final.
