8 Sep 2007 - September 2007 Newsletter
Dear Parents/Carers,
Welcome back to the new school year. It was lovely to see all the children arriving on Thursday morning, looking happy and keen to learn. Our new children in F1 have settled very quickly and we hope they will all be very happy here at
PANTO: I am delighted to say that Miss Burn has organised the annual whole school Trip to the Panto in Chipping Norton. This will take place on Wednesday 5th December. More information will be available shortly.
Clubs and class letters/targets: You should be receiving in the next few weeks your childs class letter and individual targets for the term. We also hope to be running several lunchtime and after school clubs. Information will be announced by the class teacher running the club and letters can be collected from them. My thanks to all those staff who have kindly offered to do this. If any parent would like to help with after school clubs, and are happy to have CRB clearance, please see me.
School development Priorities. Every year the school has to write a development plan to highlight the areas which we will be focusing on. This year we are looking at Spelling and Phonics across the school, working with our more able children, assessment in science and ICT, our new RE syllabus and outdoor play in the early years. If you would like to see the full plan it is available on the school website. We will also be continuing with our work on independence skills and would encourage you to support your children with this important area.
PTA AGM: This takes place on Tuesday 11th September here in school at 8.00pm. I would like to encourage as many of you as possible to attend, as the PTA do so much for the school and it is good to show our support.
Open Afternoon: This will take place on Friday 19th October 1.30 3.30pm. The school will be open for you to browse all the classes and see us at work. We will also have the official opening of our lovely new ICT suite.
Arrival at School: May I remind everyone that school doors open at 8.40am, there is no supervision before this time therefore children should not be on the premises on their own. The official start of the school day is 8.50am. Several children got into the habit of arriving after this time, which means that they miss out on the first teaching of the day. Please ensure your children are in school by 8.50am. The children on the bus are obviously different so please reassure them that we will know when the bus is late.
Please do not park in the bus bay at the beginning or the end of the day as this area is so congested. Please be aware that people are using the car park and traffic needs to be able to go in and out of the gates. The car park is for staff use only.
Healthy Food Stall: Year 6 will be starting this soon as they are waiting for the new stock to arrive. Notes will come home as soon as we have set a date. Pupils who have credits carried over from last term will hopefully be able to purchase items from Monday 24th September.
Missing Library Books: Please have a good look at home for any school library books, especially the ones from the Warwickshire Library service as we are still 81 books missing and we will have to pay for these if they are not found.
Admissions for September 2008: If your child is due to start school next September please come and collect your starting school information from the school office from 11th September.
Reminder - School Dinner Increase: From September 2007 the cost of school dinners will be
£1.90. per day. Please bring your monies on a Monday or Friday morning to pay in advance for the following week/month/term. Children can choose to have dinner on Wednesdays and Fridays or the whole week.
Footwear and Jewellery: Can I remind everyone about how important it is for children to have the correct footwear in school. It is school policy that all children should have a pair of indoor shoes (not slippers) a pair suitable for the playground and a pair of trainers for outdoor PE. They will need their full PE equipment in school all week. Also the only jewellery allowed in school is a simple pair of stud earrings and a watch.
Illness: Should your child be ill and unable to come to school please ring the school office on the first morning and leave a message. If your child has had sickness/diarrhoea we are unable to have them back in school for 24 hours for health and safety reasons.
Harvest Festival: This years service will take place on Tuesday 2nd October at 9.30am in
SATS Week: Advance notice this will take place in the week commencing May 12th. It is very important that all children from year 2 upwards are in school for this assessment week. Therefore please could no holidays be booked for this time.
Christmas Performances: Our Christmas productions will take place on Monday 17th December for F1 and KS1. KS2s production will be on Wednesday 19th December.
